Glimpses of one-day workshop on "Forest Fire Monitoring for North-Eastern Region of India- Issues and Challenges" organized jointly by the MoEF & CC and FSI in Guwahati, Assam on 2nd November, 2022. This consultative workshop aimed at sensitizing the State Forest Departments of the north-eastern (NE) states about available data, technology and knowledge for management of forest fires. The senior officers present in the workshop included the following:- Sh. C.P. Goyal, IFS, Director General Forests & Special Secretary, MoEF&CC
- Shri Ravi S. Prasad, IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary, Environment & Forest Department, Govt. of Assam,
- Sh. B.K. Singh, IFS, Addl. Director General, Forest, MoEF&CC.
The HOFFs, Nodal Officers for Forest Fire management and other senior officers from the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim were a part of the workshop. The proceedings started with an inaugural address in the virtual mode by Shri C P Goyal, DGF & SS at MOEFCC and an overview of the workshop by the Director General, FSI, followed by technical sessions and online demo of FSI fire alerts by the forest fire team of FSI. The workshop ended with valedictory address by the Hon'ble Minister of Forests and Environment, Government of Assam, Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary.
